Cebu mayor wants sidewalks cleared

CEBU CITY – Mayor Michael Rama has ordered the immediate demolition of sidewalk railings and other obstructions within Cebu City.

Rama, who conducted a road inspection the other day, said the railings hampered the flow of pedestrians using the sidewalk.

Rama, accompanied by other city hall department heads, walked from Gorordo Avenue to Salinas drive at 5 a.m. Friday to inspect roads and sidewalks in preparation for the opening of classes on Monday.

Aside from railings, Rama also ordered the removal of other sidewalk obstructions, such as signages and stalls and ordered business establishments to clear sidewalks in front of their respective buildings of any obstructions. (Mars W. Mosqueda Jr.)
