Bandits kidnap brgy chair’s son in Sibugay

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Six armed men, believed to be members of a Kidnap for Ransom Group (KFRG) operating in Zamboanga del Norte, kidnapped the son of a barangay chairman in Titay, Sibugay province shortly after sundownThu­rsday.

Regional Police Informatio­n Officer Police Insp Dahlan Samuddin identified the victim as Dennis Cabadonga Y Taghap, 28, single and son of Samuel Cabadonga, Barangay Chairman of San Antonio, Titay Zamboanga Sibugay.

Samuddin said six unidentifi­ed men, armed with .45-caliber pistols, M16 and M14 rifles and wearing masks and caps, entered the residence of Cabadonga at sitio Lupag, Barangay Malintubua­n, Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte and forcibly took him to waiting pump boats about 6:30 pm, Thursday.

Initial investigat­ion disclosed the suspects, with their hostage, sped off towards the Siocon, Sirawai Baliguian area.

Labason police, led by Sr. Insp. Mohammad Hashim Tati Sahidaini, promptly conducted pursuit operations against the fleeing suspects but failed to catch them .

Samuddin said that two police teams were still scouring the coastal areas of the Zamboanga del Norte for any traces of the suspects and the victim.

Policemen from Siocon, Gutalac, Baliguian and Sirawai also establishe­d blocking and search efforts along their respective coastal area, according to Samuddin.
