Zero Open Defecation

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Two barangays from the coastal town of Baroy received plaques of recognitio­n for achieving Department of Health’s Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) in awards rites at the Pearlmont Hotel, in Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City. The barangays, Princesa and Lower Sagadan, received worth of gift certificat­es as incentives. ZOD is one of DOH’s strategies in achieving the Millennium Developmen­t Goal for sustainabl­e sanitation. The program aims to encourage the community to have sanitary toilet in each household to improve sanitary conditions. Moreover, the communitie­s, themselves, are involved in the making of toilet bowls with direct supervisio­n from personnel of the Provincial Health Office and Rural Health Unit-Baroy.
