Zero Open Defecation
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Two barangays from the coastal town of Baroy received plaques of recognition for achieving Department of Health’s Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) in awards rites at the Pearlmont Hotel, in Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City. The barangays, Princesa and Lower Sagadan, received worth of gift certificates as incentives. ZOD is one of DOH’s strategies in achieving the Millennium Development Goal for sustainable sanitation. The program aims to encourage the community to have sanitary toilet in each household to improve sanitary conditions. Moreover, the communities, themselves, are involved in the making of toilet bowls with direct supervision from personnel of the Provincial Health Office and Rural Health Unit-Baroy.
