- By EDD K. USMAN

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) yesterday projected the jackpot for the Grand Lotto 6/55 draw today to reach a whopping 180 million.

PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II gave the estimate after another no-winner draw on Saturday.

He said the jackpot for June 1 was estimated at 180 million depending on the sales of tickets, raising the pot for Monday at 173,636,908.

The 173.6-million prize was carried by the jackpot combination of 42-19-25-18-48-45, which none of the over two million bets

nationwide managed to win.

A “lucky 13” bettors each won instead 169,401 each for guessing correctly five of the winning numbers.

Another PCSO official said “a lotto frenzy” had actually started as the 6/55 jackpot soared to over 100 million.

Meanwhile, Rojas cited the PCSO’s partnership with increasing numbers of local government units (LGUs), particularly in establishing new branches of the charity agency in the provinces.

He was referring to the free space, or “a token of one peso per year” rent provided by various LGUs for the new PCSO branches.

Rojas said the latest is at the Jesse Robredo Coliseum (JRC) in Naga City, Bicol Region, which he described as “a form of partnership that the agency (PCSO) is entering into to make PCSO services more accessible” to many Filipinos nationwide.

Earlier, he said, the PCSO stepped up the opening of more branches in the provinces to further spread the reach of its medical and health programs and services without the poor needing to come to Manila to file their applications for assistance.
