Thailand's largest oil company starts construction of SCTEX gas station
Thailand’s largest oil company, PTT Public Company Limited, has already started with the construction of its biggest fuel station in the Philippines so far, which will be located in a two-hectare property along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
PTT is the largest oil company in Thailand and one of the biggest oil players in Southeast Asia with business operations also in Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
Outside Thailand, its biggest operation is in the Philippines where it has 84 service stations all over Luzon and Visayas.
“PTT’s expansion of its investment shows our confidence in the government and in the business climate in the Philippines,” Sukanya Seriyothin, PTT Philippines corporation president and chief executive officer, said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the station.
In July 2014, PTT Philippines bagged the contract for the development of the service area after a competitive bidding conducted by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
PTT was given two years to develop the two-hectare property.
“We will bring the kind of station, products and services that we have in Thailand similar to our Platinum Stations with one-stop-shop facilities for customers - from fuel, to food, to car services, to toilets and other amenities, including our signature coffee shop, Café Jungle,” Seriyothin said.
In January, PTT Philippines also opened its first Platinum Station, sitting on a 1.5-hectare property, in Lucena City.
The construction of PTT SCTEX project is currently on its Phase 1 that involves land development including backfilling works and construction of retaining walls.
“Currently, Phase 1 is about 80 percent done and it is expected to be finished by end of July to middle of August 2015,” Seriyothin said.
“We are supposed to finish the construction by May 2016 but we will try to complete it even much earlier,” she further said.
