2 NBP drug ring suspects fall in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Two suspected members of the so-called National Bilibid Prison (NBP) drug syndicate were arrested by police at a checkpoint last Sunday while allegedly transporti­ng half a kilogram of shabu worth million in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

Chief Superinten­dent Ronald V. Santos, acting regional director (RD) of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), presented to media yesterday suspects Arthur Rumbaoa Corpuz, 33, alias “Art,” married, and of Sitio Mendez, Muñoz, Quezon City; and Honeybal Corpuz Gorospe, 29, alias “Bal,” single, and of Purok 3, Barangay. Pandalla, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

The two were traveling in a Mitsubishi Lancer with license plates UDA-273 when they were flagged down at the police checkpoint on the provincial road in Barangay Cavite, Guimba, at 3 p.m. last Sunday.

The police teams led by Senior Supt. Crizaldo Nievez, Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, and Supt. Ricardo Vilanueva, Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) commander, found the shabu in a plastic bag and an MK2 grenade in the suspects’ vehicle and carried on with their arrest.

Santos lauded the police involved in the “Oplan: Lambat Sibat” operations that captured the duo believed to be members of the NBP drug syndicate which operates in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.
