LP not bothered by mass leave of members in CamNor – Mar

- By AARON B. RECUENCO

The Liberal Party (LP) is not bothered by the mass leave of some 500 of its allies in Camarines Norte as a show of support to Governor Edgardo Tallado, who was kicked out of the administration party for immorality.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas said Tallado was subjected to a fair process when the issue of the sex scandal allegedly involving him and another woman was examined by the party.

“That’s (mass leave of LP members) okay. The LP leadership has a different point of view on issues regarding Governor Tallado,” said Roxas in an interview.

“His case underwent a process, it was already decided by the regional leaders so we respect and support that,” he added.

It was recalled that Tallado grabbed the limelight in the social media over intimate photos purportedly showing him and another woman.

His wife later sought help from authorities after she was reportedly accused by Tallado as the one who leaked the photos.

“Considering the foregoing, the (LP) Committee finds that Governor Tallado committed a grossly immoral act that has not only caused doubt as to his moral integrity, but it also tarnished the good name and reputation of the LP as a whole,” the LP resolution read.

LP Secretary General Mel Sarmiento also downplayed the impact of the mass leave by Tallado allies in Camarines Norte.

While their allies in Camarines Norte could express their support to Tallado, Sarmiento said the decision of the LP must be respected.
