Clinic serves smokers who want to quit

-

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – Cigarette smokers in Roxas City who need help in quitting the habit can go to the Smoking Cessation Clinic at the Roxas City Health Office (CHO). Roxas City Health Officer Dr. Amelita Robles said the clinic has a hotline number and manpower that includes a doctor, nurse and health educator, for those interested in availing of services free of charge Tuesday afternoons. The clinic was established together with the Anti-Smoking Task Force in 2011 following enactment of the city’s smoke-free ordinance which bans smoking in public places authored by Roxas City Councilor Powell Del Rosario. At the culmination of the 2015 No Smoking Month Celebration last June 30, Philhealth-Capiz employee Roldan Belo expressed his appreciation to the CHO for helping him to break his 20-year smoking habit. Belo, who used to consume 1.5 cigarette packs daily, also thanked his PhilHealth co-employees who supported him until he finally quit smoking in February, 2014.
