Student subsidy hike

KIDAPAWAN CITY – More than 34,000 public elementary and high school students here will enjoy annual subsidy beginning this month under the city government’s special education program aimed at fulfilling the constitutional mandate for “zero fees” for precollege learners. Kagawad Ruby Padilla-Sison, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s committee on education, said on Friday that the new subsidy represents in the city government’s previous across-the-board subsidy for its constituents elementary and high school students. Sison added that the hiked subsidy entails an P8.6million share from real property taxes collected annually by the city government. (Ali G. Macabalang)
