Boy drowns in Gen. Trias river

IMUS, Cavite – A boy drowned in a river in Gen. Trias municipality, this province over the weekend during the height of Typhoon “Egay.”

Police identified the fatality as Kim Harry Ganan Caboctolan, 8, a resident of Purok V, Barangay Pasong Kawayan I.

Two of the victim’s friends told police that they went swimming in the river about 2 p.m. last Saturday but Caboctolan was washed away by strong current.

Police said Caboctolan’s body was found floating along the river by his own father and several neighbors about 10 a.m. the next day, or about 20 hours after he went missing.

Authorities warned citizens, particularly minors, to stay away from rivers, especially during the so-called “habagat” or southwest monsoon days. (Anthony Giron)
