Bulacan takes pride in 32 medals won by PWDs in paralympic games

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — A total of 15 gold, nine silver, and eight bronze medals were won by this province’s competitor­s in the recent 4th Stage of the Philippine Sports Commission Philspada Para National Games for persons with disability (PWDs) at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado congratula­ted Bulacan’s PWD Team composed of 12 delegates that competed in the games under the theme “Health and Wellness of PWD Opportunit­ies toward an Inclusive Developmen­t.”

Rustom Arnaldo of Marilao and Caselynee Malyon of Calumpit turned their sprints into leaps as they powered a catapultin­g long jump and won the gold medal. They also got gold in the 400m and 100m runs while Ricardo Dimongo of Marilao won the same in 800m run.

In addition, Queenie Joy Manio of Calumpit and Angelo Gojo Cruz of Marilao took home the gold medals for winning in the shot put.

For the javelin throw and discus throw (Intellectu­al Disability Category), Queenie Joy Manio of Calumpit and Jesebel Tordecilla of Meycauayan, an orthopedic­ally handicappe­d, won gold medals as well as Gerardo Regalado of Calumpit for the Amputee Category.

Meanwhile, Dyesebel Lopez and Jocelyn Datiles from Marilao, Francis Pechardo of Calumpit, Adelaida Mendoza of Hagonoy and Joselito Bernes of Baliwag showed powerful performanc­es in the long jump wherein they got silver and bronze medals.
