CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City — The boat carrying two police officers of the Banton Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Romblon who had gone missing since July 14 was found last Friday on an islet in San Pascual town, Masbate, and their personal belongings recovered onshore in Pasacao town, Camarines Sur, last Saturday.

Senior Inspector Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, said the blue and white motorized boat marked “Joana Karla” used by Police Officer 2 John Paul Masajo and PO1 Imee Magada was found capsized by a fisherman on Dapa Islet, Barangay Iniwaran in San Pascual.

Calubaquib said responding members of the San Pascual MPS also recovered a brown body bag with a 9mm pistol inside, a slipper, and a gallon of diesel.

On Saturday morning, the Pasacao MPS reported the finding of a plastic folder with assorted documents owned by PO1 Magada on the shore of Barangay Caranan in Pasacao, Camarines Sur.

It was learned that the two police officers left Barangay Cajimos, Romblon town, at 1 p.m. of July 14 but they never made it to Banton.

Fishermen in the area have been alerted but searches have, so far, failed to locate the two police officers.
