Aklan blood-letting

KALIBO — The province of Aklan has scheduled a grand bloodletting activity today, Monday, July 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the ABL Sports Complex, Capitol Site, here. The activity, spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Aklan, the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Aklan Blood Coordinating Council (ABCC) is one of the major activities of the province in celebration of Blood Donors Month. It will be ushered in by a motorcade from the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH) to the ABL Sports Complex at 7:30 a.m. The bloodletting activity hopes to collect more than 2,000 units of blood in order to complete this year’s target of 550,000 units, which represents 1 percent of Aklan’s total population. This year’s theme of Blood Donors’ Month, as coined by the World Health Organization (WHO), is “Thank You For Saving My Life”. (PIA)
