Dela Torre, Fabros win

Noel Fabros and Mary Grace dela Torre topped the men’s and women’s divisions of the Balanga City qualifying leg of the 39th National Milo Marathon in contrasting styles yesterday in Bataan.

Fabros, 39, negotiated the 21-kilometer contest in one hour, 24 minutes and 25 seconds to beat out Harly Baguistan (01:24:30) and Gerald De Jesus (01:26:57) for the title.

Fabros, a security guard from Isabela who regularly runs with the Daruik Running Club, placed 4th in the 2013 MILO Marathon National Finals.

Dela Torre, 19, won the distaff with nary a trouble after clocking one hour, 47 minutes and 34 seconds – well ahead of Vanessa Grace Reyes (02:10:59) and Lilibeth Castro (02:15:28) who finished second and third, respectively.
