Jennica Garcia, Alice Dixson: Of beginnings and endings

- By C. ALLAINE B. DUMAPLIN

There are always two sides to a coin – for every pain, there’s joy; for every success, failure; for every beginning, an end. It could happen to the best of us and celebs are no exception.

Enjoying motherhood for the first time is Jennica Garcia, who gave birth July 16 to a 7.12 pound baby girl.

She and her husband Alwyn Uytingco named the bundle of joy, Athena Mori.

The couple asked for privacy as they celebrate the new member of their family.

However, the actress started a blog (www.jennicagarcia.wordpress.com) July 8 to document her journey.

“I rested my hands on my bulging tummy and thanked Jesus for blessing me with a loving husband and a child. I can’t believe that because of my fear of pain, I forgot about what I truly wanted ever since I was a little girl… All I really wanted to begin with is to have my own family. To be a homemaker… To be a mother and a wife who gives service and unconditional love to a hardworking husband. God made this dream a reality for me and yet there I was doubting his love,” she wrote at one point.

Garcia, 25, and Uytingco, 27 wed in simple Christian rites February last year after four years of being in a relationship.

Meanwhile, Alice Dixson is thankful to be cast in the upcoming GMA remake of “Marimar,” noting it would help distract her from the passing of her mother, Socorro Celones-Dixson, last May.

“Nabubuhos ko ’yung drama sa buhay ko sa teleserye na ’to,” she told GMA News.

Originally, Dixson was planning to take some time off work. “Gusto ko sanang mag-rest,” she said.

The actress started taping for “Marimar” last week.

The 45-year -old returned to GMA after several years with TV5.
