‘Thomasian Welcome Walk’ today
More than 12,000 freshmen are set to enter through the University of Santo Tomas’ (UST’s) historic Arch of the Centuries, marking the start of their Thomasian student life today.
The traditional “Thomasian Welcome Walk” to the historic gateway symbolizes freshmen’s journey as new members of the UST family.
As they join the ranks of the many accomplished alumni who once walked this campus, they are called to take inspiration from Thomasians, namely, national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal and former President Manuel L. Quezon, whose characters and eminence helped shape the nation.
The freshmen walk will start at 7 a.m. with UST Secretary-General Fr. Winston F. Cabading, O.P., escorting two representatives from each faculty, college, and institute through the arch.
The Eucharistic celebration and welcome rites will be officiated by UST Rector, the Very Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, O.P., as main celebrant and homilist, together with the Dominican Fathers at the UST Open Field, 9:45 a.m.
Love offerings during the Mass will be for the benefit of the UST SIMBAHAYAN ‘Tulong Tomasino’ Project.
Yesterday, freshmen attended an orientation activity sponsored by the Office of the Student Affairs (OSA).
