DOT-11 gears up for Davao Fun Sale 2016

DAVAO CITY — After reporting the success of the Visit Davao Fun Sale 2015 (VDFS 2015), tourism officials recently announced the start of the promotions of the visit Davao Fun Sale 2016 (VDFS 2016) during the summer months next year.

The upcoming event will be bannered by the institutional partners of the Department of Tourism in the Davao region (DOT-11) and will include the Samal eco-tourism tours and island tours in the area.

“Visit Davao Fun Sale positions Davao as a prime summer destination of the Philippines,” said DOT-11 regional director Roberto Alabado III in a statement sent to the media here.

The success of the VDFS 2015 included not only the increase in the number of tourist arrivals in the region but also the stronger collaborations among the private and public sectors.

Such gains were manifested as 250 private establishments that include 12 malls, 48 hotels, 9 tour operators, 157 restaurants and 42 spas and wellness centers joined the VDFS 2015 which ran from April 3 to May 17 this year.

“We will market attractions of the region as part of VDFS to create more tours and to encourage our tourists to explore the diverse culture, nature and ecotourism attractions in the region,” Alabado added.

Alabado pointed out that next year’s early promotions will include discounted tour packages that will provide tourists ample time to plan their summer getaway in the region and avail of best rates on accommodation and airline tickets to Davao.

“The early promotion of VDFS 2016 is aimed to ensure tourists from outside Davao City to, as early as now, consider Davao region as their vacation destination for next year’s summer season.”
