Coming sooner than 2015’s end

Well, the more the merrier, right? Here are some fantastic films to expect in the coming months.

“Pan”

A retelling of the classic Peter Pan story by J.M. Barrie, this familiar story gets new life under the direction of Joe Wright.

It introduces Australian child actor Levi Miller as Peter Pan, with a cast that includes model Cara Delevingne as the mermaid, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, and Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard. The movie is set to open on Oct. 9.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Part 2”

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2,” finds Jennifer Lawrence reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen, this time realizing that the future is in her hands.

Katniss and District 13 plot an all-out battle against President Snow’s (Donald Sutherland) Capitol. Together with Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Katniss will face numerous adversitie­s to get to her goal. It will open on Nov. 20.

“Victor Frankenste­in”

This is another remakes that’s a must watch.

People have known Frankenste­in from the original English Gothic novel and from numerous film adaptation­s through the years. On Nov. 25, moviegoers will know more about the popular monster as seen through the eyes of Igor, portrayed by “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe.

This version will also show how Igor and Victor Frankenste­in (James McAvoy) share a common vision of aiding humanity though immortalit­y.

It will also allow audiences to witness Victor’s descent into madness.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

Fans of all ages have been waiting for the return of the “Star Wars” franchise to the big screen for years. Making it more special is the participat­ion of the orignal lead stars including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher.

The film is the continuati­on of the saga after “Star Wars: Episode VI– Return of the Jedi” in 1983.

Suddenly, December seemed to be galaxies away.

MMFF film entries

Vice Ganda and Coco Martin will be paired for the first time in the comedy film “Beauty and the Bestie” directed by Wenn Deramas. Horror-slash-comedy film “Death and Senses,” directed by Randolph Longjas, has a mix of old and young stars in its cast including Rayver Cruz, Jayson Gainza, John Lapus, Ian Veneracion, Janina Gutierrez and Lotlot de Leon.

Jun Lana’s “Haunted Mansion,” starring Marlo Mortel, Jerome Ponce and Janella Salvador, wants you to enjoy a bit of scare for the holidays. Gil Portes’ “Hermano Puli (Ang Hapis at Himagsik ni Apolinario Dela Cruz)” with John Prats and Karylle aims to add historical spice to the MMFF line-up.

Romantic comedy films included in the list are “Mr. and Mrs. Split,” directed by Antoinette Jadaone starring Herbert Bautista and Kris Aquino; Dan Villegas’ “Walang Forever,” starring JM de Guzman and Jennylyn Mercado; and Jose Javier Reyes’ “Romcomin Mo Ako,” featuring the return of the successful tandem of Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas.
