Warmer’ ber’ months ahead - PAGASA

Temperatur­es over the country’s lowlands will become slightly warmer in the coming months as a manifestat­ion of intensifyi­ng El Niño phenomenon.

The Philippine Atmospheri­c, Geophysica­l and Astronomic­al Services Administra­tion (PAGASA) said slightly warmer temperatur­es in the lowlands of Luzon and Mindanao will be experience­d in September, and “near average” temperatur­es in the Visayas.

Meanwhile, it will be slightly cooler in the mountainou­s regions of Luzon and Mindanao.

By October, near average temperatur­e is expected in the lowlands of Luzon but will be slightly warmer in the lowland areas in the Visayas and Mindanao, and mountainou­s regions in Mindanao.

Meanwhile, slightly cooler temperatur­e will persist in the mountainou­s areas in Luzon.

From November to January, slightly warmer temperatur­es will prevail across the lowlands of the entire country.

PAGASA said a significan­t reduction in rainfall is predicted beginning this month until February next year over most parts of the country

The strengthen­ing El Niño phenomenon will also cause moderate to severe drought conditions will during the forecast period.

Gradual recession of rains, associated with the southwest monsoon, is expected during the latter part of September up to early October.
