Donaire’s next fight is crucial

- NICK GIONGCO

Nonito Donaire is not taking any risks as efforts hit the ground to finalize his Nov. 21 clash with Englishman Scott Quigg either in Manchester or Dubai.

With Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum eyeing to stage the mouth-watering matchup, Donaire is about to kick off the initial phase of his training by setting up camp in Las Vegas.

Coming off to back-to-back victories over William Prado of Brazil and Anthony Settoul of France, Donaire is raring to get another chance at the world title and Quigg, who has an unbeaten 31-0-2 win-loss-draw record with 23 KOs, appears to be the perfect candidate that can resurrect the Fil-Am puncher’s career.

Donaire’s status took a massive hit after being brutally stopped by Jamaican Nicholas Walters but a win over the power-punching Quigg has what it takes to bring him back to his lofty status among the world’s finest. —
