BIR re-shuffle affects 13 RDOs

- By JUN RAMIREZ

Thirteen regional district officers (RDOs) of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) were reshuffled by Revenue Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares to further strengthen the tax collection drive and improve the chances of hitting this year’s 1.6 trillion collection target.

The BIR chief came out with the revamp program before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) could impose the mandated ban on the movement of government personnel for next year national elections.

Informed sources said other RDOs, who are in the forefront of raising about 40 percent of the bureau’s collection goal, are also expected to be reshuffled shortly.

The Travel Assignment Order No. 35-2015 was signed by Henares last August 17 but was released only yesterday.

Among the regional directors given new assignments were Arnel Guballa from Calasiao, Pangasinan to Tuguegarao, Cagayan; Marina de Guzan, from Cagayan to Pangasinan; Gerardo Florendo from Caloocan to San Pablo City; Jose Tan from San Pablo to Caloocan; Esmeralda Tabule from Legaspi City to Iloilo City; Romulo Aguila Jr. from Iloilo City to Davao City; Diosdado Mendoza from Tacloban City to Koronadal City.

Alberto Olasiman from Cagayan de Oro City to Legaspi City; Norberto Vitug from Butuan City to Tacloban City; Thelma Malibao from Koronadal City to Bacolod City; Glen Geraldino from Davao City to Cagayan de Oro City; Jethro Sabarriaga from Assistant Quezon City assistant revenue regional director to director San Fernando, Pampanga and Nasser Tanggor from Tacloban City to Butuan City.

Insiders said Florendo who exceeded his collection target last year was transferred to San Pablo City to enhance the tax collection drive in Southern Tagalog.
