Pa kills 3 kids, tries to commit suicide

Despondent over his recent separation with his wife, a man killed his three children before trying to commit suicide in their home in Sampaloc, Manila Monday night.

Rolando Reformado, 33, a jeepney driver, stabbed to death his children – Jonel, 14; Jonlee, 9; and Janel 5 – inside their apartment located on Dapitan Street before he turned to himself.

Janel was still alive when her mother and barangay officials gained entry to their home but she expired in the hospital while receiving treatment.

The crime scene provided an eerie reminder of what Reformado did as he even scribbled messages on the wall for his estranged wife, Angeli.

“Mahal na mahal kita. Sorry sa lahat. Salamat sa lahat (I love you so much. Sorry for everything. Thanks for everything)” were the messages etched in blood, perhaps belonging to himself or his children.

According to the police, Rolando and Angeli had a falling out after the latter decided to leave their home with Janel in tow last August 21, fed up with the maltreatment she suffered from her husband who was often drunk.

But a week later, Rolando pleaded with her if he could borrow Janel because he missed their youngest.

Then at around 1 a.m. yesterday, Rolando texted Angeli, threatening that he was going to kill himself and the children without the latter knowing that her children had long been dead.

Angela rushed to their house but did not get any response, prompting her to seek the assistance of barangay officials.
