Germany’s shipping services provider Dohle Group prefers PH seafarers

- DAVIES

Dohle Group, Germany’s leading shipping services provider, continues to put its trust in Filipino seafarers who man most of the Group’s 250 vessels, Dohle Shipmanagement Philippines Corporation (DSPC) President Cliff Davies said .

Of late, Dohle Group consolidated its crewing resources in the Philppines into one manning agency – the Dohle Seafront Crewing (Manila) – currently headed by lawyer Ifris V. Baguilat , an experienced hand in maritime law and well-rounded in global shipping. Atty. Baguilat is also an active figure in German-Philippine business relations including the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce.

There are currently some 5,000 Filipino seafarers deployed in the Group’s fleet, a big jump from its deployment of 600-Filipino bunch in 2011 – that was two years after the judicial birth of Dohle Seafront Crewing (Manila. The good news is from 2009 to date, its continued growth has been providing excellent career ‘stability’ for the country’s seafarers (also called mariners, sailors, seamen).

Davies, also a member of the board of Dohle Seafront Crewing (Manila), said that with the vast shipping resources of the Group at hand, Dohle Seafront can assure its seafarers of on time allotment and crew line-up when they sign off, thanks to the numerous ships owned and managed by Dohle Group, said Davies. He added that seafarers can avail of quality training courses from Dohle Seafront’s sister firm, the European Training and Competence Center (ETCC), also located at Dohle Haus Manila. ETCC is a facility built in 2010 to provide service to Dohle Group’s Filipino seafarers. Since 2014, Dohle Seafront has formed a number of alliances with major corporations in order to offer valued-added services to seafarers and their families – including better than best of exchange rates.” said Davies.

Highly positive feedback from its crew saying that management and staff are ‘very accommodating’ every time they visit Dohle Seafront office for their concerns to be addressed, has highly inspired Dohle Seafront to pursue building a culture of service to all its stakeholders - from the principals, government agencies, up to seafarers and their family members,” he pointed out. “The Dohle Group and Dohle Seafront are quite grateful to Filipino seafarers for their years of dedication, hard work, and loyalty,” he said, adding: “Dohle Group has recognized the Filipino seafarers as their partners for progress.”
