Brace for more rainy days

- By ELLALYN B. DE VERA

Rainy weather will persist over most parts of the country in the next few days due to the prevailing Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Admin-

istration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ, a breeding ground for potential cyclones, is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The next two to three days or until Wednesday, the ITCZ will bring rains in many parts of the country.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Zambales, Bataan, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

PAGASA also continues to monitor a low pressure area (LPA) about 855 kilometers west of Sangley Point, Cavite or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

It still has a slim chance of entering the PAR. However, it has a possibility of intensifying into a tropical depression as it hovers over the West Philippine Sea.

PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to southeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the southwest to west over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. (Ellalyn B. De Vera)
