Subscription-based model for Autodesk
There is also enhanced DDR3/3L support on select motherboards for additional flexibility and compatibility.
5-Way Optimization, another ASUS-exclusive technology, dynamically optimizes essential aspects of the system based on real-time use, ensuring superb processor performance, everyday energy savings, ultra-stable digital power, cool and quiet fans and networking and audio settings that are tailored for preferred apps.
The ROG Maximus VIII Series has set eight world records (WR) and achieved 12 global first places (GFP) in benchmarks. It achieved the best CPU frequency for an i56600K processor, with a frequency of 6.808GHz; and the highest reference clock (BCLK) with a frequency of 552.27MHz. Other records are highlighted in the table below.
The new Z170 Series motherboards feature onboard USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and Type-C ports to provide users with data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbit/s. On top of that, ASUS also offers the first 100W UPD front panel with two USB 3.1 Type-C ports.
The upcoming Maximus VIII Extreme will be the first Z170 motherboard to feature an onboard U.2 connector along with Thunderbolt 3 support.
Future models, such as the Z170-Premium and Z170-Pro motherboards, will feature Thunderbolt 3 and Intel USB 3.1 support respectively.
The entire Z170 motherboard range supports the latest PCI Express and M.2 NVM Express SSDs to deliver 32Gbit/s data transfer speeds.
To allow more users to get access to its software, 3D design engineering and architecture software leader Autodesk will launch the subscription-based business model in the next two years.
Kelly Chong, Autodesk Asia Pte Ltd Regional Sales Manager for ASEAN said the new initiative will broaden the reach of the company to its global customers. “It will democratize our products to engineers, artists, architects and other users,” said Chong, one of the main speakers during the AUTODESK AutoCAD Day held recently at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
He noted that the subscriptionbased model will be designed to be more affordable.
“Our new business model allows customers to optimize their expenditures. Moreover, they can now control the cost of their design software,” he added.
In a typical project cycle, Chong said there will be a bigger need for designers wherein Autodesk products can be harnessed to the fullest. However, Chong said it would change during the implementation stage when there will be no need for designers.
“The new model makes sense to the customer,” he said.
Teddy Tiu, country manager of Autodesk Philippines, said the introduction of the subscription-based model is timely as more people especially the millennial generation are getting more engaged in cross collaboration when developing and implementing their projects. “In the pre-digital world, you are one-man team whenever you want to pursue a project,” he said.
“However, that stage is already gone. Right now, any individual can find partners through the Internet for his project that he is developing from the ground up. Autodesk wants to maximize this opportunity through our subscription-based model,” Tiu added.
As part of the transition of the company, Chong said Autodesk will be phasing out two of its products this year and in 2016. Meanwhile, AutoCAD will be retired on January 2016.
Before the phasing out of the products, Tiu said Autodesk will continue to sell perpetual licenses for its products. “Eventually, we will stop selling perpetual licenses when Autodesk retires these two products,” he said.
Autodesk, in partnership with Wordtext Systems, Inc (WSI),the Philippines’ exclusive distributor, recently organized a whole day seminar in Makati City on the latest trends in AutoCAD design for its customers and partners.
“It is part of our annual commitment to our clients and partners by showcasing the latest solutions and technologies from Autodesk,” said Tiu.
Among WSI pioneer customers and one of the heaviest users of their products is JFE TECHNO MANILA, INC., an ISO 9001 Certified engineering and design companies delivering high quality products in the different fields of engineering.
Headed by Rodolfo Vicente, director/division manager for engineering said,” the firm designs any structure using the world-known AutoCAD tools since the company was established.” He sees the need for the highly innovative design solutions to be able to become competitive in the global market.
