JOSH GROBAN on romancing

-

LOS ANGELES – “I need to go back to the Philippines again!” This is the sentiment Josh Groban expressed when we spoke to him recently.

“This time, I need to try added, smiling.

The 34-year-old award-winning singer, who visited the Philippines last October 2007 as part of his world tour, went on to recall his Philippine trip. “It was many years ago. It’s about time that I come back because it’s been too long. The fans there have continued to support me since the beginning of my career. They really appreciate all sides of this business and what I love about making music. The Philippines is a really tremendous music loving country that doesn’t put genres in boxes. You can watch MTV in the Philippines and you can see one of my videos next to Justin Timberlake. It’s accepting of so many different genres. So we are always thinking about the fans there and planning on coming back for sure, in the next year or two.”

We asked him about his supposed

balut,”

he romantic relationship with the sexiest actress on television these days, Miss Piggy, who just broke up with Kermit The Frog. “Yes, that’s true,” he confessed. “She’s a great kisser by the way.”

Apparently, Josh will appear in an episode of “The Muppets,” which will premiere on Sept. 22 on ABC and he will play Miss Piggy’s love interest. “I had such a great time with ‘The Muppets’ yet again and this is my third time filming with them. We did ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ together and we filmed that in London. Then I did a music video with them, together with Lindsey Sterling.”

“So they called and they said, ‘We want to make a scandalous love affair between you and Miss Piggy. I immediately high fived my eight-year-old self and so it was incredible. This new Muppet show is hilarious. It is very smartly written and the people who are involved with it are really taking it back to Josh Groban the kind of sauciness that it used to have back in the ’70s and ’80s. It’s great. So yes, to make a cameo on that show was a dream come true for me.”

Josh disclosed that he and Miss Piggy “will be singing a song from the world of musical theater. So I am definitely singing as myself. But the rest of my relationship with Miss Piggy is not like myself.”

Is it a requirement that his girlfriend can sing? “My actual human girlfriend is actually shy about singing,” Josh, who has been dating the lovely actress Kat Dennings since 2014, disclosed. “I don’t think there are any musical duets in our future. I will keep pushing, but we will see, she is very shy about that. As far as as requirements, I think sometimes when it just clicks, it clicks. When it’s right, it’s right. I will tell you that being able to share humor is so important to me and to be able to laugh. My parents just celebrated their 45th wedding an-niversary and they just laugh about the stupidest things all day long.”

Josh added that having a girlfriend who is in the same business has pros and cons. “The schedule is crazy,” he pointed out. “We are always traveling. But at the same time, she is the most understanding person I have ever met because she lives it too. So, to know somebody who understands the side of it where there are a lot of demands on you, and then at the same time to be just as human and relaxed when they aren’t, is a wonderful combination.”

As for his favorite Muppet character, he mentioned Animal, “Because I am an amateur drummer and part of that was inspired by when I would see Animal drumming and he was like Keith Moon. He was just crazy so yeah, I always liked him.”And his relationship with Miss Piggy? “Oh it wouldn’t last,” he answered. “That’s a spoiler alert.”
