- By HANNAH L. TORREGOZA

Senator Juan Ponce-Enrile was rushed to the Makati Medical Center on Tuesday night because of dengue, said one of his legal counsels yesterday.

Atty. Joseph Sagandoy confirmed in a text message that the veteran lawmaker was taken to the hospital and was diagnosed suffering from dengue fever.

"Yes. Senator Enrile was brought to Makati Medical Center last night," Sagandoy said.

Enrile returned to the Senate after posting 1.45-million bail at the Sandiganbayan. He is one of the senators who were charged with plunder after being implicated in the 10-billion pork barrel fund scam.

In a radio interview, Enrile's daughter Katrina, said doctors were now closely monitoring the senator's condition.

The Supreme Court granted the 92-year old lawmaker's petition for bail, citing his health and age.
