- By EDD K. USMAN

A balut vendor from Manila claimed on Monday the R5.18-million jackpot he won in the September 1 draw of the 6Digit Lottery, which is one of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) top producer of instant millionaires.

According to PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II, the 6Digit Lottery winner, who sold balut in Ermita, Manila, said he was quitting his trade and would be putting up a variety store instead.

“I am already tired and old,” the PCSO official quoted him.

His bet, culled from his grandchild’s birth date, matched the winning combination 1-0-1-6-9-9 — of 6D, one of the PCSO’s Digit number lotteries.

Despite the win, the winner said he was not going to buy a house but will just shoulder the renovation of the ancestral residence he shares with his five siblings with which he will also share part of his winnings.

Rojas said the PCSO is happy that another “of our poor countrymen got an opportunity to change his life for the better through our games.”
