Singaporean clinches Euro-Med Storm title

-

Singapore’s Cherie Tan beat 2010 Asian Games gold medalist Biboy Rivera of TBAM-Prima-Ebonite to rule the 12th Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge last Tuesday at the HP Pearl Bowling Center inside Harrison Plaza.

Tan foiled Rivera’s bid to win the title via the stepladder phase when she bowled a 276 in the sudden death game to claim the top purse of P800,000 in the tournament sponsored by Euro-Med Laboratories and Storm Products Inc.

Rivera reached the finals the hard way with victories over Malaysia’s Esther Cheah and South Korea’s Son Hye Rin in the stepladder phase.

He also pushed Tan to a sudden death match for the title after winning the first game of the final, 229-191, but failed to sustain his hot form to settle for the runner-up finish.

Other sponsors of the tournament were Bevida Distilled Drinking Water, Roto Grip, Master, Turbo Grips, AZO, E. Ganzon Inc., Premier Insurance & Surety Corporation, Manila Prime Land Holdings, Advance Solutions Inc., Pearl Bowlers Association of Paranaque, and Pearl Bowling Center.

The Manila Bulletin and Sports Digest were the official media part- ners, the Bowlmart Training Institute served as the official lane maintenance partner and the Century Park Hotel was the official hotel.
