HPG: Fix your car or be accosted for stalling on EDSA

- By AARON B. RECUENCO Driving · Cars

The police’s Highway Patrol Group (HPG) has warned motorists to make sure that their car is always in good condition as its traffic enforcers will soon apprehend those whose cars would stall on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue or EDSA.

Superintendent Oliver Tanseco, HPG spokesman, engine trouble and other reasons causing a vehicle to stop on EDSA will no longer be an acceptable excuse because the consequences of such is a major contributor to traffic buildup.

“As motorists, we should be responsible in checking our cars before we go out and drive,” said Tanseco and in justifying their move to implement the policy.

Once motorists encounter such problems on EDSA, HPG personnel manning traffic will not hesitate to accost the driver for the traffic viola- tion, said Tanseco.

“This is not only about taking care of your car, this is also about you, your family and other people’s safety,” he said of the reasoning behind the new policy.
