Bus-truck collision kills 1, hurts 48

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — A mini-bus and a trailer truck collided head-on along the Roman Super Highway near the Bataan Tourism Office, here, the other night, killing the bus driver and injuring a total of 48 people.

Police said the accident happened at 6:54 p.m. Wednesday on the highway in Barangay Bagong Silang, this city, killing Joselito Hizon, a resident of Mariveles town, this province, driver of the mini-bus with license plate CXM-842.

The mini-bus was traveling southbound to Mariveles when it collided head-on with the oncoming 16-wheeler, with Plate No. AAU-8575 and driven by Marlon Paralejas, of Maybunga, Pasig City.

Traffic investigat­ors have put the truck at fault for allegedly swerving to the lane of the mini-bus, which then had 54 people aboard.

The report said 46 passengers of the mini-bus, including the conduc- tor,wereinjure­dandtakent­odifferent hospitals for treatment.

The driver of the truck and his helper also sustained injuries and were taken to the Bataan General Hospital for medical attention.
