Mayor suspended

ATIMONAN, Quezon — The Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) has slapped a nine-month suspension on Mayor Jose Mendoza of this town, based on complaints of oppression, misconduct, and abuse of authority filed against him by municipal employees. Mendoza’s suspension comes after he revoked the permanent status appointment of complainants Maria Dalisay Diestro and Teresa P. Fortifaes, whose appointments were made by former Vice Mayor Nestor Parafina and affirmed by the Civil Service Commission. (Danny J. Estacio)
