CKSC, HCHS forge title clash in FCAAF tilt

Defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC) and long-time rival Hope Christian High School (HCHS) sealed another title showdown by downing their respective semis rivals in Division I of the 26th Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Basketball Championsh­ips held last weekend at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym in Manila.

The Blue Dragons banked on their near-flawless shooting in the first quarter to romp to a 55-24 win over St. Jude Catholic School and secure a return trip to the final of the event presented by Molten.

The Hope Christian cagers, on the other hand, scored a vengeful 70-42 win over the Manila Patriotic School side, 70-42, in the other semis pairing held last Sunday.

MPS denied Hope Christian of a 7-game sweep of the elims by eking out a 72-70 thriller at the close of the elims last Saturday.

In Division B, PACE arranged a semis meeting with MGC New Life Christian Academy by downing St. Mary’s Angels College of Valenzuela, 75-65, while Philippine Sun Yat Sen High School earned the right to face Paco Citizen Academy Foundation in the other semis pair by beating Northern Rizal Yorklin School, 71-54.

MGC-NLC advanced to the Final Four with a 68-58 win over Grace Christian College while PCAF trounced Philippine Academy of Sakya, 54-44.

Meantime, St. Stephen’s High School extended its win streak to seven games in the boys’ developmen­tal division with wins over SPAS (47-13) and Philippine Cultural College (3915) while CKSC hiked its record to 7-1 with wins over Philadelph­ia High School (63-39) and JCA (61-36).

Also contention for semis berths are GCC and St. Jude Catholic School with 6-1 and 6-2 marks.
