La­borer kills wife, goes into hid­ing af­ter failed sui­cide at­tempt

Af­ter killing his wife, an en­raged la­borer went into hid­ing af­ter a failed sui­cide at­tempt in Parañaque City last Wed­nes­day. South­ern Po­lice Dis­trict Sta­tion 3 (SPD-3) iden­ti­fied the fatality as Win­nie Perez, 29, and the sus­pect as Ekan Palco, 42, of Hon­tiveros Com­pound, Fourth Es­tate Sub­di­vi­sion in Barangay San An­to­nio.

Neigh­bor Melody De­cillo told po­lice that prior to the in­ci­dent, she heard the vic­tim and the sus­pect hav­ing a heated ar­gu­ment for un­known rea­sons about 10 p.m. in­side their house.

Mo­ments later, De­cillo heard the vic­tim al­ready scream­ing for help.

In­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that Palco stabbed Perez sev­eral times dur­ing the peak of their ar­gu­ment.

Fear­ing ar­rest, the sus­pect burned their mat­tress and at­tempted to kill him­self by hang­ing. How­ever, the cord he used snapped, caus­ing the sus­pect to fall to the floor. Out of panic, Palco fled the scene. De­cillo said the wounded vic­tim was able to walk from their house sev­eral me­ters away to seek for help. How­ever, Perez died from stab wounds in dif­fer­ent parts of her body af­ter she was rushed to the near­est hos­pi­tal.

Po­lice are cur­rently pur­su­ing the sus­pect. (Rachel Joyce E. Burce)
