Laborer kills wife, goes into hiding after failed suicide attempt

-

After killing his wife, an enraged laborer went into hiding after a failed suicide attempt in Parañaque City last Wednesday. Southern Police District Station 3 (SPD-3) identified the fatality as Winnie Perez, 29, and the suspect as Ekan Palco, 42, of Hontiveros Compound, Fourth Estate Subdivision in Barangay San Antonio.

Neighbor Melody Decillo told police that prior to the incident, she heard the victim and the suspect having a heated argument for unknown reasons about 10 p.m. inside their house.

Moments later, Decillo heard the victim already screaming for help.

Investigation revealed that Palco stabbed Perez several times during the peak of their argument.

Fearing arrest, the suspect burned their mattress and attempted to kill himself by hanging. However, the cord he used snapped, causing the suspect to fall to the floor. Out of panic, Palco fled the scene. Decillo said the wounded victim was able to walk from their house several meters away to seek for help. However, Perez died from stab wounds in different parts of her body after she was rushed to the nearest hospital.

Police are currently pursuing the suspect. (Rachel Joyce E. Burce)
