-

Dennis Orcollo failed to end the country’s five-year drought in the World 9-Ball Championship as he suffered an 11-1 loss to American Shane Van Boening in Thursday’s quarterfinals at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha, Qatar.

Orcollo ran out of gas after earlier victories over American Hunter Lombardo and Great Britain’s Darren Appleton to leave the Filipino contingent emptyhanded anew in the annual competition.

The 2011 World 8-Ball champion was the last Filipino to bow out after Warren Kiamco, Oliver Medenilla, Jeffrey Ignacio and Carlo Biado were booted out earlier in the day.

Kiamco fell 11-9 to Taiwan’s Ko Pin Yi in the Round of 16 while Medenilla, Ignacio and Biado were beaten in the Round of 32. Medenilla absorbed an 11-4 loss to Taiwan’s Chang Yu Lung, Ignacio suffered a 11-6 setback to Singapore’s Yapp Aloisius and Biado was brought down by Yi 11-4.
