Jawo’s son falls in Makati shootout, botched drug sting
The son of former Senator and basketball living legend Robert “Big J” Jaworski, who was wounded in a shootout with police intelligence operatives in Makati City the other day, remains under tight watch while undergoing medical treatment.
Ryan Joseph Jaworski, 40, a resident of Corinthian Gardens, Quezon City remained confined at the Makati Medical Center (MMC) after sustaining injury on his thigh.
Also arrested was Jaworski’s companion, identified as Joselito Au, 52, a resident of Greenpark, Cainta, Rizal.
Case investigator Nilo Sadsad said that the shootout occurred early Saturday morning during a supposed buy-bust operation led by members of the Regional Police Intelligence Operation Unit (RPIOU).
Jaworski’s group was onboard a maroon Nissan Sentra with license registration plate No. WNE 425. With him were Au and a certain Ferdinand Parago, who managed to escape.
Jaworski and the authorities’ groups were on their way to the prearranged meeting place at the corner of Chino Roces Avenue and Arnaiz Avenue (formerly Pasay Road), when the suspects sensed that they were being monitored by the police.
The younger Jaworsksi’s group then opened fire at the police team, which was forced to fire back.
The suspects fled toward Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue (formerly Buendia Avenue), and temporarily evaded pursuing police teams.
The intelligence operatives, however, received information that Jaworski was brought to MMC due to a gunshot wound.
The suspects’ vehicle, with several bullet holes on its windshield, was also found parked at the basement parking of the said hospital.
Police recovered one bullet slug of unknown caliber on the floor of the front passenger seat and one Benelli shotgun with serial number Y005536 at the back of the baggage compartment.
