PDEA cites 5 anti-drug teams in PH
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recently cited the exemplary contributions of five drug law enforcement units to the national anti-drug campaign.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr., represented by Assistant Secretary Rene Orbe, PDEA Deputy Director General for Administration, recognized the District Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (DAID-SOTG) of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the Basco Municipal Police Station, PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1), PDEA Regional OfficeCordillera Administrative Region (PDEA RO-CAR) and PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region, for their significant anti-drug operations.
PDEA cited the law enforcement during the regular PDEA flag-raising ceremony held at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.
The DAID-SOTG, QCPD was commended for the successful conduct of a buy-bust operation on August 15, 2015 in Barangay Teresita, Quezon City which resulted in the arrest of three drug personalities and the seizure of 1,050 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu,” worth 1.5 million.
The Basco Municipal Police Station (MPS) was given recognition for the recovery of 2.6 kilos of shabu, with an estimated street value of 7.8 million last July 18 on Mount Iraya, Sitio Diohangu, Barangay San Joaquin, Basco, Batanes.
PDEA RO1, under Director Adrian Alvariño, was cited for the arrest of three drug personalities during a check-point operation in Poblacion, Bacnotan, La Union last September 4 that led to the seizure of 162 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves.
PDEA RO-CAR, under Director Juvenal Azurin, received citation for the marijuana eradication operations in Sitios Tamurong, Nakneng, Balisaosao, Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet that led to the destruction of 14.6 million worth of marijuana from Aug. 19 to 21.
PDEA RO-NCR, under Director Erwin Ogario, was responsible for the confiscation of one kilogram of shabu worth 1.2 million during an entrapment operation in Mandaluyong City last August 28.
The same operating unit was commended for the arrest of two Chinese nationals and the seizure of two kilograms of shabu worth 2.4 million at the basement parking of a shopping mall in Malate, Manila last September 6.
