Moscow hosts International Aviation and Space Salon
The Moscow Airport of “Zhukovsky” recently hosted the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS2015, which gathered over 2,000 representatives of public authorities, business and research communities. More than 50 conferences and round tables hosted at MAKS discussed vital issues of aerospace development, new technologies and materials, personnel training etc.
Among participants of the flight program there were 90 aircraft, including 42 airplanes with 7 aerobatic teams. For the first time ever, Airbus showcased its latest passenger airplane A-350 both on the static display and in the flight program of MAKS 2015. There were 133 aircraft, including 21 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces, demonstrated on the static display.
The Aviation Salon was visited by 103 official delegations from 65 countries. 878 companies and organizations became a part of the exhibitions, with 151 companies coming from 30 countries. Expositions were organized in pavilions with a total area of 28 sq. km and 8 sq. km of open-air grounds. Private companies’ delegations worked in 78 chalets.
A number of important agreements were concluded at the Aviation Salon: State Transport Leasing Company signed a fixed price contract on delivery of 32 aircraft SSJ100 with the manufacturer – Sukhoi Civil Aircraft. The value of the deal exceeded 130 billion Russian Roubles (1,91 billion US Dollars). The value of Cooperation agreements with investment obligations, contracts and deals at MAKS 2015 is estimated at 350 Billion Roubles ($5.14 billion).
On August 25, the guest of honour of the 12th International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2015 H.E. Mr. Vladimir V. Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, was introduced to the projects of young inventors and engineering thinkers who had won in the International Festival of Children and Youth Research and Development Creativity “Off We Go!” organized by the Russian Engineering Union.
Chairman of the organizing committee of the Festival “Off We Go!”, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry, First Vice President of the Russian Engineering Union Hon. Mr. Vladimir Gutenev, when commenting on the results of the competition, stated that the festival is a long-awaited event for talented young people, which helps instill and develop in young people at a young and early age a passion for aeronautics, aviation and cosmonautics, “As never before, our country needs young engineers and scientists who will preserve and multiply the experience gained by the older generation of aircraft builders and utilize their outstanding talents for this purpose.”
Student’s Day (August 28) became a new addition to the program of MAKS 2015, which was dedicated to research and technical creativity of children and young people, professional orientation and enhancement of qualifications of personnel. The air show on the Student’s Day was visited by more than 7 thousand students of higher educational institutions and Specialized vocational schools.
More than 600 veterans of the Air Force – representatives of Belarus, Russia, and the Ukraine – participated in the MAKS events, and met with youth, guests and participants of the exhibition.
MAKS 2015 attracted almost 4000 reporters from 580 Russian and 158 foreign media, including 43 Russian and 26 foreign TV networks. For the first time ever, the official accounts of MAKS 2015 were launched in major social networks. The number of subscribers exceeded 90000 people.
The total number of visitors of the event reached 404000 people. During the first three days the air show was visited by more than 66000 experts in air and space. To facilitate the flow of guests there were 72 additional commuter trains launched.
Social and antiterrorism security in the territory of Gromov Flight Research Institute (home to MAKS 2015) and the entire municipal district of Zhukovsky was ensured by 3080 policemen, Internal Security Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Emercom servicemen, and private security guards. Road safety was ensured by 400 officers of the Traffic Police.
