Phenomenal love team AlDub (Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza) continues to gain ground as they star in a special show to be staged at the 55,000-capacity multipurpose indoor Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on Oct. 24.

Phenomenal love team AlDub (Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza) continues to gain ground as they star in a special show to be staged at the 55,000capacity multi-purpose indoor Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on Oct. 24.

Dubbed “Tamang Panahon,” the show is another much-awaited event among fans of the “Kalyeserye.” The day will stir even more excitement with the hashtag “AlDub The Big Surprise,” and the question among many is would it beat the record 26 million tweets of the hashtag “AlDub EB for love” set on Sept. 26?

But setting Twitter records or simply filling arenas isn’t the end goal here. The aim of the “Tamang Panahon” event is to raise funds for the construction of libraries nationwide.

So far, some 50,000 tickets have already been sold.

Meanwhile, according to the Philippine Arena Facebook page, those who can’t get into the venue anymore could watch the show on screen at the nearby 25,000-capacity Philippine Sports Stadium, also in Bulacan. As of this writing, there has been no announcement if tickets will be made available for the sports stadium.

“Tamang Panahon” will also air on the same day on GMA-7 at 11:30 a.m.

Individual successes

The AlDub pairing has been an unprecedented success, but individually Alden and Maine (Yaya Dub) has been marking their personal milestones as well.

Alden’s album “Wish I May” is now certified gold. Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) chairman Marvic Benedicto and president Alvin de Vera and GMA Records managing director Rene Salta made it official on “Eat Bulaga” last Saturday.

Alden thanked the AlDub Nation (AlDub fans) for their love and support at the launch of the said album held on the same day at SM City North EDSA. He also turned emotional while singing a worship song called “How Great Is Our God” to show gratitude for the blessings he’s been receiving.

Meanwhile, Maine, 20, has gained the attention of Broadway producer Shea Arender, who wants her to star in a musical.

“I want to have a meeting with people managing Maine’s career… It’s not commonly done here – a Broadway musical based on a TV show,” the American singer-song writer told Pep.

He reckons it would be a great idea to team up with Maine for an acting project. He said, “I want to keep this open. There’s so much talent here, so many options…”

About “Eat Bulaga’s” “Kalyeserye,” he said, “I can’t help but constantly laugh… I don’t understand everything, but the facial expression alone is amazing.”

“One of the most important things is to bring joy and make people happy, and she’s (Maine) doing a fantastic job,” he added.

Recognized abroad

Alden and Maine were cited by American news site Morning News USA.

In an article written by Athena Yenko published Oct. 19, titled “Do You See #ALDUB A Lot On Twitter Lately? We Have The Answer,” the onscreen couple is compared to Hollywood actors Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in the film “Crazy, Stupid, Love” for their “onscreen chemistry.”

The write-up then explained the tandem of Alden and Maine is the reason the hashtags relating to “AlDub” have been trending on Twitter and subsequently puzzling the rest of the world.
