Of the 188 barangays in Caloocan City, 90 barangays are seriously affected by illegal drugs, 30 are moderately affected, and 68 are slightly affected, Ogario said.

He added that 92.58 percent of barangays in Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela) area are affected by illegal drugs.

Cities and town under the SPD are Makati, Taguig, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and Pateros.

In Quezon City, nine out of 10 barangays or 92.25 percent are drug-affected, while 90.30 percent of barangays in Manila are affected. In cities under the jurisdicti­on of the Eastern Police District, 85.12 percent of the barangays are affected.

He said shabu remains the most used drugs, followed by marijuana, and ecstasy.

Meanwhile, Ogariom said that the PDEA is ‘on the lookout for the entry of a new man-made drugs called “flakka,” described as more dangerous than cocaine.

During the panel hearing, OFW party-list Rep. Juan Johnny Revilla asked the PDEA if it has informatio­n about “flakka,” which is also called “gravel.”

“Narinig na ba niyo ang tungkol sa flakka? Flakka is bagong droga ngayon among Americans. It’s very dangerous and it is coming down to Asia (Have you heard about flakka? Flakka is a new drug among Americans),” he said.

“Worst than cocaine in the sense… it’s very dangerous kasi (because) if you take little more than you should, it can kill you. If you take it, you hallucinat­e. Malakas itong droga (This is a powerful drug),” he added.

Castelo asked the PDEA and other enforcemen­t agencies to prevent the entry of such illegal drugs in the country.

“We should stop the entry of these drugs which come from China and other Southeast Asian countries. We should also run after the manufactur­ers of these drugs. Would you imagine puwede sa kitchen gawin ang drugs (it can be produced in the kitchen),” he said.
