Citi PH awarded anew as Best Digital Bank

-

Citi Philippines triumphed twice at the 2015 Global Finance World’s Best Digital Banks Awards, taking home the accolades for Best Consumer Digital Bank for the 9th time and Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank for the 9th consecutive year.

Formerly known as the Best Internet Banks Awards, this is the 16th year that Global Finance, a publication headquartered in New York and boasting of readers in 180 countries, has named the best lenders from across the globe that are blazing the trail in online banking.

Citi Philippines CEO Aftab Ahmed thanked the Global Finance for the twin recognitions. “At Citi, we recognize that digital banking will largely shape the future of the industry. Our goal is to be the world’s leading digital bank, and in the Philippines, we are providing world class digital platforms to our corporate as well as consumer banking clients. We are honored to be recognized once again by Global Finance — this further substantiates that our investments in technology and digital platforms are proving to be impactful.”

Since pioneering online banking in the Philippines in the early 1980s, Citi has been acknowledged as the premier digital bank in the country, offering clients round-theclock access to banking via mobile, tablet, and online platforms through Citibank Online (www.citibank.com.ph). In corporate banking, Citi’s customer channel CitiDirect Online Banking remains popular among the largest and most important local and international companies and financial institutions.

“Banks have continued to transform their corporate and retail offerings into multichannel, digital solutions,” says Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance. “As new innovations continue to proliferate, the winners of this year’s awards are those that take advantage of the vast array of new solutions out there in order to provide the best customer experience to clients.”

Winners were chosen among entries evaluated by a panel of judges at Infosys, a consulting, technology, and outsourcing firm. The final selection of the winners was conducted by the editors of Global Finance based on the following criteria: Strength of strategy for attracting and servicing digital customers, success in getting clients to use digital offerings, growth of digital customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives, and web/mobile site design and functionality.

Apart from the Philippines, the Best Consumer Digital Bank award was also won by Citi Australia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Meanwhile, Citi won 13 out of the 17 country awards in Asia for Best Corporate/Institutional Digital Bank.

Citi in Asia Pacific also took home honors for Best Investment Management Services, Best Trade Finance Services, Best Integrated Corporate Banking Site, Best Online Treasury Services, Best in Mobile Banking, Best Integrated Consumer Bank Site, Best Information Security Initiatives, and Best SMS/Text Banking.
