Bea Binene’s journey into adulthood begins with a party next month though, in truth, she initially wanted to mark her milestone by traveling to Japan with family.
In an interview, the TV host-actress said she's always been into learning the culture of different countries.
“Sabi ko mag-travel na lang tayo kasi sayang ’yung isang night lang na gagastos ka ng sobra eh, kapag travel parang madami ka nang mae-experience,” she said. After several talks with GMA Artist Center, sponsors and friends, Bea realized why they’re pushing for the bash.
“Sabi po kasi nila na once in a lifetime experience lang naman daw ’yan. Ang Japan naman daw po eh, pwede mong puntahan anytime,” she said. To be held at the historic Manila Hotel on Nov. 3, the debut celebration billed “Legally B” promises to show stories of her life.
“Very much involved po ako sa preparations and guest list. Pero ‘di ko po alam kung ano magiging itsura ng venue kasi gusto ng stylist eh masurprise ako,” she explained. The party will have a vintage glam theme and Bea will wear a New Yorker PVR main gown and an after-party dress that night.
“Ang gusto ko po kasi simple lang ’yung gathering. Kumbaga parang an event that is nice to remember. Pero
hindi ’yung sobrang grand. Gusto ko simple yet memorable,” she said.
More importantly, she will have the traditional 18 treasures, roses and candles. Bea said some of her close friends from showbiz will participate in the program.
“Sila Barbie (Forteza), Krystal (Reyes), Derrick (Monasterio), Ken Chan… Kasi sila ’yung pinaka-close ko tapos kapag may problema ako, palagi silang andyan,” she said.
Shall we dance?
Her first and last dance for the 18 roses will be with Alden Richards and Kristoffer Martin, respectively.
“Si Kristoffer kasi siya talaga ’yung bestfriend ko na kapag tumawag ako ng 2 a.m. eh, sasagot siya at makikinig sa problema ko,” she said. On choosing Alden to be her first dance, Bea said, “Kasi siya ’yung protective kong kaibigan na kukumustahin ka palagi or kung anong nangyari sa’yo...”
Bea won't have an escort. She explained that it’s not all about being independent, but showing enthusiasm in facing the new challenges and adventures that come as she turns into a lady.
“Wala lang, gusto ko lang na ako lang mag-isa. Feeling ko kasi kaya ko nang buhatin ’yung gown ko mag-isa.” There’s also no confirmation yet whether her ex-boyfriend, Jake Vargas, and her estranged father will grace the
event.
“Sino naman po ang gusto na wala ang dad, ’di ba? Pero kasi ngayon may problema siya sa business niya. So, inaayos pa niya. Eh kami naman ni mama, labas na kami du’n,” she said. On Jake, the actress said, “I don’t know (kung pupunta siya) kasi ’di pa kami namimigay ng invitations. Pero I
will (invite him).”
Wishes
The actress looks forward to having more projects because this means she can share more blessings to her friends and family.
“At ang matulog sa sarili kong kwarto. Tsaka walang cut off sa pagtulog. Kasi laging pag-alas dose na, sinasabihan ako ni Mama na matulog
na,” she said. Now that she is about to reach legal age, Bea said she will be more open to mature roles but cleared she doesn’t plan to change her image even after turning 18. “’Di naman daring. Kumbaga the
way you act, ‘yung ganu’n pero ’di naman ibig sabihin na maghuhubad ka na,” she explained. Bea also wants to prove that she has a lot to offer. “Marami pa akong gustong patunayan sa sarili ko. I also want to know more about myself and discover new avenues for my craft. Marami pa rin po akong gustong matutunan, so I’m preparing myself for whatever life has to offer,” she said.
Among the things she’s excited to do are voting in the coming elections and learning how to drive.
Bea’s preparations for her debut is airing via her self-produced reality-lifestyle TV show “Legally B” that's on GMA News TV Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. Learnings on
