- Other winners: Triking Distance Team winners:

August Benedicto stamped his class once again to retain his Elite Male title in last Sunday’s Tri United 3that started at ACEA Resort (Dungaree Beach) inside the Subic Bay Freeport to Alviera in Porac, Pampanga via the SubicClark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

A member of the powerhouse Unilab Active Health squad, Benedicto negotiated the contest featuring 1.9-K swim, 90-L bike and 21-K run in four hours and 48 minutes to underscore his status as one of the country’s finest triathletes.

Braving the unusual hot morning, Benedicto was able to keep pace with teammate Benjamin Rana and early leader Ben Regan in the swim event then made his move in the bike contest where he pulled away before pouring on the heat in the bike event to win in runaway fashion.

The event organized by Bike King headed by Raul Cuevas and presented by ULAH was the toughest in this year’s series since its main contest covers roughly 113-kilometers in distance.

Camsur’s Billy Biag finished second in 5:04:16 while Rana settled for third in 5:07:23.
