PRDP bidding out Cebu road, livelihood projects

-

CEBU CITY–The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) is set to hold the bidding for the R141.8-million farm-to-market roads and PHP1-million small livelihood project in Cebu on first week of November.

PRDP project officer Estella Rodriguez said the farm-to-market roads and the livelihood project are funded by soft loan from the World Bank (WB).

Rodriguez said these are the 5.8-kilometer road from Barangay Anonang, Bogo City to Lambusan in San Remigio town; 6-km. road from Barangays Dapdap to Batad, all in San Remigio town; 2.7-km. road from Barangays Kinawahan to Canagahan, both in San Remigio town in northern Cebu.

The Anonang-Lambusan road is worth R57.5 million; Dapdap-Batad, R56.3 million; and the KinawahanCanagahan road, R27.97 million.

The small livelihood project involves the cassava production and marketing of the San Francisco Farmers Association in Camotes Island off northern Cebu.

Rodriguez said there is already a buyer for their cassava by products who will use it for animal feeds.

Rodriguez said the buyer will buy “as much as they can produce.”

She said the cassava project, which was approved by the regional project advisory board (RPAB), already got a no-objection-letter 1 (NOL) from the national project coordinating office, which is needed for the project to proceed to public bidding, while its application is being processed for a NOL 2.

Once approved with NOL 2, notice to proceed will be issued for the winning bidder to start.

All three roads are almost done in getting NOL 2.

Rodriguez said the project proposal for an incoming project, a native chicken production in San Remigio, is for submission to RPAB for approval.

All of these projects, implemented at no cost to the local government units, is part of the WB’s R27.48-billion soft loan to PRDP.

The loan package will be paid by the national government with a 10 percent counterpart fund shouldered by Cebu provincial government. (PNA)
