Warning out vs 8 unregistered cosmetic products
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised the public not to patronize eight unauthorized/unregistered cosmetic products that are sold in the country.
In an advisory, the FDA identified the unregistered products as Tesco Revitalising Shampoo Tea Tree & Mint and Tesco My Senses Shampoo Miracle Moisture with Tesco Stores Ltd. listed as manufacturer/distributor; White Glo Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste Smokers Formula and White Glo Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste Coffee and Tea Drinkers Formula with Barros Laboratories Pty. Ltd Australia as manufacturer/distributor; L’Oreal BB Cream; PS Hair Colorant with Guangzhou Joyn Na Cosmetics Co LTD / Sophia Marie Cosmetics Products Inc. as manufacturer/distributor; Active-care Green Tea with Yi Rong Tan Cosmetics Factory as manufacturer/distributor; and Verdon Series Hair Colorant.
“All consumers are advised to buy cosmetic products that have FDA market authorization, and only from legitimate outlets,” the FDA advised.
It ordered all of its field regulatory officers to monitor, conduct inventory and seize all cosmetics products that have no FDA Cosmetic Notification.
The FDA also urged local governments to ensure that cosmetic products that do not have market authorization are not sold or offered for sale by ambulant and sidewalk vendors.
“The Bureau of Customs is requested to remain vigilant to prevent the entry of unregistered and toxic health products in the country,” it said.
It warned establishments and outlets against selling the eight products, saying they can be penalized.
