Muntinlupa wins highest award for blood donation program


The Muntinlupa City government was awarded the Jose Rizal Award, the highest award for mobile blood donation, during the Dugong Bayani Awards held recently.

Muntinlupa met the requiremen­t of 2,000 blood units donated and had a total of 3,800 blood units in 2015.

The Department of Health, through the Philippine Children’s Medical Center and Philippine Blood Center, lauded Muntinlupa for its outstandin­g assistance in filling blood banks to support patients in need.

PCMC Deputy Director for Hospital Support Services Dr. Farra Kristine Fontilla Santiago awarded the citation to Muntinlupa.

The DOH also recognized the Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) for its compliance with Republic Act No. 10028 also known as the Expanded Breastfeed­ing Promotion Act of 2009 and Ensuring Crucial Maternity Protection Provision's to Institutio­nalize Breastfeed­ing Supportive Workplaces.

OsMun Director Dr. Edwin Dimatatac presented the certificat­e of recognitio­n to Mayor Jaime Fresnedi in the city’s flag raising ceremony on Dec.7.

In the ceremony, Mayor Fresnedi turned over an ambulance vehicle to local officials in Barangay Ayala Alabang as part of the local government’s medical assistance program. Each barangay in Muntinlupa was given one ambulance.
