Woman trapped to death in Manila fire
A41-year-old woman perished in an apparent case of suffocation after she was trapped inside her burning residence along Tejeron and Zamora streets in Sta. Ana, Manila Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Maribel Zamora, reportedly a mentally disabled, who was inside her apartment unit.
Arson investigators said that the fire broke out at 7:40 p.m. and reached the third alarm.
The conflagration also burned down an eatery, a tire shop, a bakery, and a sari-sari store located at the ground floor of the twostory building.
The fire was declared under control at 8:16 p.m. and was put out at 8:40 p.m.
Arson investigators are yet to determine the origin of the fire which caused an estimated 300,000 worth of damage to properties.
Meanwhile, two teenagers suffered minor injuries when a fire hit a condominium unit in Gonzales St., Ermita, Manila yesterday before dawn.
Reports said the two victims, aged 17 and 19 years old, suffered second degree burns and minor burns, respectively in a fire that razed the entire fourth floor of the Gemini Condominium. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
