MB Classified Ads: Everything for everyone

- By JAY R. REMPIS

Throughout the years, the Manila Bulletin Classified Ads Section has helped keep the wheels of the economy turning, facilitat- ing trade and helping people find exactly what they need, whether these be products or services.

Classified advertisements have been around almost as long as the Manila Bulletin itself. Back then, the section was called Bulletin Want Ads; the section was renamed “Classified Ads” in August 1938.

Manila Bulletin Classifieds Advertising AVP Geronimo Montalban said that the page continues to grow and innovate.

“I am very proud to say that MB Classified Ads is the only Classified Ads Section in the country that continues to excel and has maintained its success from the beginning up to now,” said Montalban. The newspa- per’s Classifieds Section has already received recognition from various award-giving bodies and continues to dominate, with a market share of 70% as of 2015.

Manila Bulletin’s Classified Ads also kept up with evolving reading habits and the increasing ubiquity of the Internet when it made the leap to digital through the official portal www. MBClassifiedJOBS.com.

Product Head Dante J. Mijares said that more innovation will happen in 2016. “A better portal is about to come, with a more appealing design and user-friendly features. We will sustain the success of our print and strengthen the portal to make it even more engaging,” he said. The site currently attracts at least 200,000 page views every month and has more than 30,000 registered jobseekers, MBClassifiedJOBS.com also carries news stories, features on employers, tips on career management and pointers that will help people land the ideal job.

The portal is designed to complement the broadsheet version. “Most college graduates and job seekers are computer literate, and this portal is our way of bringing jobs closer to them,” said Mijares.

In addition to the digital undertaking, MB Classified Ads also goes on the road to where the job seekers are. Last year, 30 MB Job Fair events and 20 school and campus tours were held throughout the country.

MB Job Fairs offer middle to top management positions, giving qualified applicants a shot at legitimate employment opportunities and good compensation. Last year alone, MB Job Fairs found gainful employment for almost a thousand people, with more than ten times that number receiving encouraging results by being considered for higher-level interviews and examinations.

“The MB Job Fair is for everyone. It offers jobs that are credible and legitimate,” said Montalban. “We want to bring jobs closer to the people and let them choose where they think they can do their best. It is like the job is looking for people.”

When asked what keeps them motivated to be on top, Montalban answered, “Our love for our all clients, our love for success and our passion in making the pages a ticket to the future!”
