IMUS, Cavite – Vice President Jejomar C. Binay and his United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) team revisited voterich Cavite yesterday and promised to appoint Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla as his Interior and Local Government secretary should he win in the May 9, 2016 elections.

Binay’s announcement drew cheers and applause from the crowd during the UNA campaign sortie at the packed San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite gym yesterday morning.

“I would like to announce that my secretary for Local Government would be Gov. Jonvic,” Binay said to the delight of the crowd.

Remulla, 48, was formerly Binay’s political affairs spokesman until he decided to quit to prepare for his reelection. However, the governor withdrew from the gubernatorial race last December to pursue post- graduate studies. His elder brother, Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla substituted him.

“I requested this fellow to let his brother be the candidate because I will be needing him in running the nation,” said Binay, referring to Jonvic and brother Boying.

The UNA standard bearer said he believes that Remulla has the competence and experience in local governance.

“What we are talking about here is experience and capability that we can really see and feel,” said Binay, adding that this is also how he offers himself to the people.

With the warm support of the Caviteños, Binay said he is confident that he will be elected as the next president.

Cavite is one of the vote-rich provinces, with 1.84 million registered vot- ers for the May polls.

Local officials, including Vice Governor Jolo Revilla, shared the stage with senatorial bets Princess Jacel Kiram, former Special Action Force ( SAF) chief director Getulio Napenas, labor lawyer Allan Montano, and broadcaster Rey Langit. Laywer Harry Roque of Kabayan partylist, who is seeking a congressional seat also graced the event.

In his speech, Binay reiterated that poverty and unemployment remain the main problems of the country despite the present government’s claims of economic growth.

Under his administration, Binay said he would bring in individuals that have vast experience in leadership.

The Vice President also vowed to offer free basic education.

Binay also reiterated that he would continue the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Program should he become president, contrary to lies being spread that this would be stopped under his term. (With a report from Anthony Giron)
