Bulacan bags health award
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — The exemplary implementation of health programs in Bulacan, under the leadership of Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) Region III as some of the hospitals and health care units in this province bagged numerous awards in the 4th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health (CLExAH) held at the Holiday Inn, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Excellence awards in different categories were given to the two of the province’s district hospitals – the Calumpit District Hospital as DOHDesignated Newborn Screening (NBS) Training Facility for providing newborn quality health care since 2012 and the Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial District Hospital in Santa Maria as the Red Orchid Awardee for its effective demonstration of World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control that promotes environment free from tobacco smoke.
Alvarado said the excellence awards given to the province exhibit the quality health care services provided by the hospital and health care centers in Bulacan, which is one of the elements in building a healthy and progressive community.
Moreover, the City of San Jose Del Monte received the Excellence Awards in Barangay Health Workers (BHW) Program Implementation and in the Implementation of National School Deworming Day as well as the San Jose Del Monte City Hospital that was conferred the award for DOH Designated HIV Satellite Treatment Hubs for offering treatment, care and support to people with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
The municipality of Plaridel also won the Best in Innovative Strategy for Maternal and Child Health Program while the Rural Health Unit of the municipality of Calumpit was conferred the Excellence Award in Breastfeeding Program Implementation.
